Remote sensing is a set of methods to acquire information about any space, in particular the earth's surface, the measurement and interpretation of radiation received, usually in the form of image, thus obtaining information without direct contact with the object of study.

As the aerial photography has evolved, two sciences have been developed parallel to Photogrammetry and Photo Interpretation, the first has a concern, techniques that best represent the shape of the terrain, topography and metric maps produced from aerial photos and the second have concerns about quality as what could be seen and identified on a photograph.
